Wow... it has been that long.....

 

 

I almost forgot how to write up a blog post! lol

Well anyway.... I will start with the most important thing:

Today I'm gonna share my first few projects I made with

Swirlydoos, February, *Upon a Time* kit.

Which we have a few more left in the Swirlydoos Boutique

(I love how shabby that sounds)

 

anyway...

We got a WHOLE, Graphic 45 - A place in time, paperpad in the Mainkit.

That means 26 Beautiful double sided  papers. WOW!!

 

My kit came in late (bummer!) so I couldn't participate in our monthly reveal blog hop.

But, here's what I did with this kit.

First up is my Birthday Calender. It is a 19 x 19 inch canvas, which I flipped to work on the backside.

I cut up the calender sheet and made them into little segments.

(this will be more clarified in the pictures below) 

 

 I primed my canvas with Gesso first and then I painted the border with Distress Paint in Spun Sugar.

I then dry-brushed it with some Lumin'Art Silks acrylic glaze paint, in honey which also came in the Main kit.

 

 On the inside of the canvas, I first covered it up with cardboard, to make it sturdy. Gesso-ed it and then used masks and mists and Distress Paints, to create a subtile background.

 

This Prima resin, came in an earlier Swirlydoos kit.

 

 These darling dangles are actually stickpins made by Petaloo. I cut them into the desired lenght and transformed them into danglings.

 

 This border strip was made out of aluminium foil tape. This technique tutorial was provided by our ET member Miranda Edney, for Swirlydoos UDC contest.

 

 This little guy, I found last year when we were on our Summer Holiday.

 

 These doilies are soooooo glimmery!!!!  in real life..

Too bad that doesn't show up in the pictures.

 

 Oh yeah... when I look at this picture... I can still feel the cramped fingers. LOL

I cut these out, using my exacto knife.

The flat back pearls.... I painted them. How? I stick them, onto self-adhesive aluminium foil tape, (cause they were moving around and hard to paint) then added 1thin layer of gesso, (dries up pretty fast) next, I squeezed a little liquid pearls out and got that on using a soft paintbrush.

 

 I made that little heart out of Martha Stewart foam clay and aged it, using Distress Metallic stains.

 

 Here's what I talked about earlier. This is forming the front of my little segment.

 

 Here's it folded out. I opened up the front flap for you to see how it hangs on the horizontal strip in the picture below.

 

 

 

Onto the texture

 

 I added molding paste with my palet knife to the sides of my canvas. This is the top vieuw. For the top I used a stamp and pressed it into the molding paste to create the texture.

 

 This is the top right side, where I used a Prima Marketing stencil to create that image.

 

 When the molding paste was dry, I rubbed Distress Paint in Spun Sugar over it, then again I dry-brushed it with silks acrylic paint (honey) and spritzed a home made dark grey mist on it.

 

 And lastly the left side bottom corner.

As for what glue I used for this project....... Beacon 3 in 1 Craft Glue.

My numer 1 adhesive. It glues (almost) everything. Love it!!!!

 

Also, I have these 2 cards to share, for now.

 

 I am still working with my kit, cause WOW.... It was JAM PACKED!!!!!

Swirlydoos reveal and Blog Hop

And packed with awesome goodies!!! Loved it!

So, On to my projects...

I haven't had much time to play, because my kit, well let's say.....

It took a journey on it's own, and came in way later than it normally does.

But here's what I came up with.

 

Seeking for......

 

 and some close ups

I didn't want to cover up this beautiful Prima Firefly paper, with lots of layers of other papers,

so I kept it very basic here. I just run with glossy accents over some areas (drips in the paper)

to high light them and on other spots I used Iridescent Medium by Windsor and Newton.

I used Ranger's Multi Medium to add the gauze bandage to my background.



These beautiful beads came in an earlier Swirlydoos kit and I used some Beacon's 3in1 Craft Glue

to adhere them to my photo. Gave it also a stitch down, with the silver thread, on which I glued iridescent beads.

These Gorgeous Prima flowers came in the Main Kit. Also this Prima Resin corner came in the Main Kit. On the flowers I dabbed a little Iridescent medium, so gave it that extra shimmer.

Those white leaves are made from paper-cording which I got

from my dear friend IngridG. (Thank you sweetie!!!)

On the upper right corner I used a Crafters Workshop stencil and some Molding Paste that came in a previous Swirlydoos Technique Kit. When the molding paste was dry I gently dabbed some iridescent medium on it.

There were a bunch of Prima journaling cards in the Main Kit. I didn't journal on my card, but added my title on it. The journaling is hidden underneath . It is about me, (obvious) searching for answers.

As some of you know, I was in an accident 2 weeks ago, and was badly hurt. I can not remember anything of it, as I woke up in the hospital. I won't go into further details, but that is where my journaling is about!

 

Okay.... some cards!!!

All Occasion card...

I used on of the Prima Note Cards that came in the Main Kit and I didn't dress it up much, cause it is so  PRETTY of it's own.

 



Just for You...

On this card I use the gorgeous Prima Resin windows, that came in the Main Kit.

I added some foam adhesive to the sides of the window-shields to gave it some depth.

The packaging that comes with the Resins is just so gorgeous and I wanted it to use on this card and stamp my sentiment in the middle.

Nothing but paper layers here. Well except the masking/misting in the upper right corner. LOL

I cut one of the Prima Note Cards to fit and stamped my sentiment on it

Those amazing gems came in the Main Kit.

I am not going to warn you (no more) for the heavy photo post,

cause I think you know that by now from me. So here we go!

First up are some cards I made with this Gorgeous kit.

Onto my next project.

Remember those old vintage wash boards, they used to use back then? 

Well I had one of them and it was a real "stand in the way" thing.

So when I was (again) finding it a new place, an idea came to mind.

I turned it over, and the back was just perfect for my idea, soooooo

here's my OTP project

 

 

 I added a few layers of Gesso to the top and while the last layer was still wet, I sprinkled some, fake snowflakes powder and some fine glitter on it.  I also added gesso to the twine and those gorgeous flowers that came in the kit. The mini cloth pins were sitting in my stash forever.

 

 

 I love these beautiful papers by Kaisercraft. 

 

 In the Main Kit there was also a sheet of "from - to" tags. I folded mine double, and hang them on the twine. Those little pinecone(ish) thingies are Else propjes. From the "Els" tree.  

I picked them up from the ground.



 gave them a little Gesso coat.

 

 The hingie, is a recycled painting - hanging system, I sanded/painted/inked them and beat them up, with Tim Holtz texture hammer, just like I did with the brads.

The paper edges were dabbed with Gold paint dabber. Whilst the paint was still wet I added Multi medium (matte) and sprinkled Diamond Dust glass glitter over it. When it was all dry I rubbed some Stickles over it. (diamond)

 I took a 12# acrylic sheet and cut it to fit, using a deco scissor. I then sanded the outher edges to get a frosty look. After my stickles (on the center paper) were dry I hand stitched it to my acrylic sheet.

 

The pearl beading, was something I found at a dollar store. I took quickly a picture of it for you to see...

I had to tape them down to my craft sheet, cause they are going EVERYWHERE.

I just want you to see, how easy you can make them yourself.

It is 1 main thread (the horizontal one) the other short strings, are knotted on that main thread.

 

Okay, let's continue

 I so love that beautiful Prima Marketing, metal embellishment, that came in the kit.

 Actually there were 2 in the kit. (still have one, Yah!!!)

I wrote the word family on a scrap of paper and then glued the glass on top of it, using Beacon's 3 in 1 Craft Glue. Actually, I used this glue for the whole project.

I added a real holly leave, which I dried for a few days over the heating, and added some Else projes and a vintage bell.

 

 Love, love, love, this badge!!!!! I added some Gesso to it and some diamond stickles.

And this is what the inside looks like.

 What is that?  you may ask. Well.....

For me Christmas is being together with family and enjoy eachothers company and stories.

And I thought to myself.... why not make a family game. Or two?!!

So that's what I did. 

 

 Oh, almost forgot... this beautiful piece of paper with the saying on it,

is sandwiched between the acrylic sheet and the front center paper.

 

 And this bottom part, holds the 2 games.

The next few photo's, shows the opening up of the game holders.

 (what word should I use for that?)

 

 On the left I wrote "DO" and on the right I wrote "Tell"

It is like a "hints" game (do)

and a Q&A game (tell)

 

 Every (game) card is cut from white cArt-Us cardstock and decoupaged with old bookpaper, then gesso-ed and stamped and inked and... you get the picture.

 

 Here are some (blurry - sorry for that) pictures of the DO cards.

 

 And these are the Q&A cards.

 

Here are some of them in close up. It shows more detail.

On the back, (actually the front) of my washboard, I added a plastic bin,

for getting in new idea's and questions for the game. This way I can add more, or replace them.

I'm looking forward to Christmas already. The games will be so much fun to play.
